Hall Improvement Projects

July 2023 – Funding Announcement for our Carbon Reduction Project – Installation of new solar panels with battery system

Our project has received a £35,850 grant from HS2’s Community Environment Fund (CEF).  The CEF fund has been created by HS2 to add benefit to communities along the route that are demonstrably disrupted by the construction of Phase 2a of HS2 from the West Midlands to Crewe.

The administration of these funds is managed on behalf of HS2 Ltd by a community charity, Groundwork, who will ensure both funds remain available for applications throughout each phase of construction. www.groundwork.org.uk/hs2funds

We are extremely grateful for the funding that we have received from HS2, along with a grant of £9.2k from ACRE Platinum Jubilee Village Hall Fund and approx. £2k from the Parish Council.

We can now proceed with the installation of solar panels with a battery system. This should reduce our carbon usage by nearly 30%. We have already seen a 40% carbon reduction from the installation of LED lighting and a new infrared system.

November 2021 – We pride ourselves on investing in our hall to maintain a high standard of facilities
, and as part of our long term  goal to reduce our carbon emissions and  energy consumption we have installed new energy efficient infrared heaters.

These heaters are not only a benefit for the environment, but are an improvement on the overall comfort levels for the users of the village hall. We thank the National Lottery fund for the generous grant awarded to us to help fund the infrared heaters in this project.
To date since we started our drive towards energy reduction we have already completely renewed the roof insulation with updated materials and recently replaced all our lighting with LEDs.
In coming years we hope to install solar panels that are battery backed, to rely completely on our own energy. The target is to become energy self-sufficient and perhaps even feed energy back into the grid.
